Hurricane Beryl

How to help: Hurricane Beryl

Published July 12, 2024

On July 1, Hurricane Beryl made its first landfall on Grenada’s Carriacou Island. Beryl then strengthened to become the earliest Category 5 Atlantic hurricane on record. Undergoing rapid intensification multiple times, Beryl carved a path of destruction through countries in the Caribbean, as well as Venezuela, Mexico, and Texas, bringing record winds, flash floods, extensive damage, and loss of life.

Immediate needs across all impacted areas include shelter, food and water, emergency supplies, debris removal, and rebuilding damaged homes and infrastructure. Full recovery will take years.

How to help

Fidelity Charitable worked in collaboration with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy to source the following list of organizations that are providing relief services to those affected by Hurricane Beryl. These organizations are highlighted because they can activate quickly, have the ability to incorporate a large influx of donations, and have an established record in providing disaster relief services.

Access to island nations is often limited following a disaster. We’ve prioritized organizations serving these areas, as the logistics of aid delivery can increase needs. We’ve also included several organizations focused on clean energy since rising climate temperatures are a key contributor to a hyperactive hurricane season.

As needs emerge and change, this list will be updated. To recommend a grant to any of these charities, log in to your Giving Account.

Please note that the organizations listed in this guidance do not represent the full list of organizations raising money for Hurricane Beryl relief efforts.
