Fidelity grants through Stripe

These FAQs are written primarily to assist with Stripe Express. If your charity has a Nonexpress Stripe account, the instructions may differ slightly. See Stripe Nonexpress Support as needed.

How can I log into Stripe?

How will grants show up in my bank account?

  • For nonprofits enrolled in our Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) program through Stripe, deposited funds will show up on bank statements as "Fidelity grant". Details for individual grants, including whether the grant was made through Fidelity Charitable or Fidelity Giving Marketplace can be found on the Stripe "Balance" dashboard.

How can I differentiate between Payouts from Giving Marketplace and Fidelity Charitable in Stripe?

  • When you view the Payouts for your charity, the Description will start with the following text depending on who issued the Payout:
    • Giving Marketplace: will start with Giving Marketplace
    • Fidelity Charitable: will start with Fidelity Charitable Grant
  • When you export the transaction details with all available columns, you can see additional information not available in the transaction list online. See Can I export a list of my transactions and payouts from Stripe? on Stripe Support for instructions on exporting the complete transaction details.
  • Note: Fidelity Charitable and Giving Marketplace are serviced by National Charitable Services, LLC, a Fidelity Investments company that supports customers, companies, financial advisors, and more with their philanthropic needs.

How can I view grant information for my charity in Stripe?

  • Stripe refers to funds sent to your charity’s account as Payouts. See Where can I view recent payouts and transactions? on Stripe Support for instructions to view Payouts.
  • When you export the transaction details, you can see additional information, such as all available columns, not available in the transaction list online. See Can I export a list of my transactions and payouts from Stripe? on Stripe Support for instructions to export the complete transaction details.
    • Once the export pop-up window displays, you can select a specific date range.  If you are missing expected transactions after exporting, try changing the date range.
    • Under the Columns field, you should also select All columns from the drop down options to view all transaction details.

Will I be notified when receiving grants from Fidelity Charitable through Stripe?

  • Fidelity Charitable does not currently send an email notifying nonprofits of grants distributed through Stripe. Once a grant has been distributed, nonprofits will see "Fidelity grant" listed on bank statements. Grant details from Payouts in Stripe can be seen on the Stripe dashboard.
  • Nonprofits receiving grants through Giving Marketplace will receive an email notifying them of grants distributed through Stripe.

Can I add people to the charity’s Stripe account?

How can I change an existing owner in Stripe to a new person?

  • To update a user’s login information, see How can I update my login information? on Stripe Support. NOTE: The user information may only be updated this way for Express accounts.
  • To access your account after a staff transition, you can submit a request to Stripe Support.
  • Fidelity Charitable strongly recommends that the person holding the title of Company Representative also maintains control of the Owner Administrator login for the Stripe account.

How do I tell if my Charity’s Stripe account is Express or not?

Nonexpress accounts enable you to use the same email address for multiple connected accounts.

  • Fidelity Charitable and the Fidelity Giving Marketplace use the Stripe Express view for all users; though you may have a connected Nonexpress account, you will always view Fidelity Charitable transactions through your Express dashboard.
  • Once you are logged in to Stripe, your dashboard will vary depending on your charity’s account type.
    • Express: There will only be two tabs available. One for Overview and one for Transactions or Balance.
    • Nonexpress: There will be more than two tabs available for viewing account information which may include Home, Payments, Balances, Customers, Products, Billing, Reports, and More. You can select your various connected accounts from a dropdown in the top left corner.

How can I obtain technical support from Stripe?

  • You can visit https://support.stripe.com/express to Contact Stripe support or browse a list of topics.
  • Additionally, once you log into Stripe, you will have additional options to obtain Stripe support by selecting the help icon at the upper right of the dashboard.

Can you give me information about a donor who recommended a grant anonymously?

  • Only 4% of Fidelity Charitable grants are made anonymously. We encourage donors to provide contact information to the nonprofits they recommend grants to by defaulting to provide a name and mailing address when a donor recommends a grant. You can see what this process looks like for a donor by trying out our demo. Any information the donor has permitted us to share with you will show up on the Stripe grant report.
