CAF America, Focus: Global

CAF America is a U.S. public charity that has been helping donors achieve their international charitable giving goals since 1992. CAF America’s core mission is to streamline charitable giving through donor-advised giving, driven by their industry-leading organizational vetting and due diligence protocols. CAF America’s worldwide reach translates into more than $4.6 billion in grants distributed and a network of 1.9 million eligible organizations in 135 countries. CAF America’s database vetted and trusted international organizations enables donors to recommend grants in an expedited manner. In conjunction with its extensive network of international partners in Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, CAF America has the capacity to reach a great number of relevant local organizations which are best aligned with your charitable giving goals.

If CAF America has an established relationship with a nonprofit, Fidelity Charitable donors can recommend grants to CAF America to further support those nonprofits for an additional fee. To learn which nonprofits already have CAF America Friends Funds, check the CAF America database.

Grants to international organizations that are currently eligible and have an established relationship with CAF America typically reach organizations within 3-4 weeks after grant receipt, though timelines may vary depending upon the time of year.

If CAF America does not have an established relationship with the intended charitable organization, eligible Fidelity Charitable donors can request that the organization be vetted through CAF America for an additional fee. Please contact Fidelity Charitable directly to learn you are eligible to request vetting a new organization via CAF America.

Fee to establish a new relationship (in addition to the administrative fee): $350 for grants under $7,000; $0 for grants over $7,000.

Make a grant recommendation via CAF America

If you would like to support a foreign organization using your Fidelity Charitable Giving Account, you may submit a grant recommendation to Fidelity Charitable to be made to CAF America. When entering the dollar amount of the grant, select “Use” and then “Create Your Own” to specify the organization as a designated purpose.
