Open a Giving Account online in three steps.

To open a Giving Account for your organization or company, download the Organizational Giving Account application.

The Giving Account balance, which is determined based on your contributions, investment selections and investment performance, is available after you log in to the Giving Account.

The recent adjustments made to your Giving Account could be due to a variety of reasons such as:

  • One of your grant checks to a charity was returned to Fidelity
  • A grant check was not deposited by the charity in a timely manner
  • An administrative fee has been assessed

We are experiencing increased instances of returned or delayed processing of checks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For additional details, log in to your account or select History or Statements and confirmations from the top navigation menu.

You can keep the Giving Account open with a zero balance without incurring fees. If you'd still like to close the account and grant any remaining funds out, please contact us.

A successor assumes all Giving Account privileges after the death of the last Account Holder. In the case where you have multiple successors, your Giving Account balance will be split according to the proportions you select and will be available to the successors after the death of the last remaining Account Holder.

Fidelity Charitable offers three distinct successor options—Individual Successor(s), Charitable Organization Beneficiary(ies), and the Endowed Giving Program. Account Holders can elect one successor option or any combination of the three.

Successor election(s) and recommendations can be changed by any Account Holder at any time before the death of the last remaining Account Holder.

To change or add a successor, log in to your Giving Account and select the "Your Profile" link in the upper right-hand corner. Select the "Successor" tab in the first section, where your successors may be modified.

The primary Account Holder can update most information on FidelityCharitable.org. Log in to your Giving Account. Click the "Your Profile" option in the top navigation and select "Edit" next to the primary Account Holder name.

To update the personal information for the secondary account holder, that person needs to log in with their own account or register as a new user by creating their own login. Alternatively, the primary or secondary account holder may call Donor Services at 1-800-952-4438 to update this information.

The best way to change the Giving Account name or name(s) of Account Holders is to fill out and submit the Giving Account Change Form.

If you already have a financial advisor, he or she can help you take full advantage of your donor-advised fund. Check out our Working with your financial advisor page to find the resources you need to get started.

Fidelity Charitable has updated the digital certificate we use to increase the level of security for our website. Browsers on older operating systems may not be compatible with this upgraded certificate. The updated digital certificate is made by Entrust, a certificate provider that Fidelity Charitable uses for secure communications. Entrust is one of the industry standards. This issue is best resolved by downloading the newest version of Entrust Root Certificate Authority and adding this trusted security provider to your computer. To do this, please follow these steps:
1. Go to https://www.entrust.com/resources/certificate-solutions/tools/root-certificate-downloads
2. Midway down the page, click on "Download" from the section "Entrust Root Certificate Authority—G2"
3. Close all browser windows and then restart the browser

This feature involves the one-time transmission of a security code to you through your phone. The code is necessary to verify your identity.

The voice or text message that delivers your security code is a one-time, user-initiated message. If you have questions about the security code, please contact a Fidelity Charitable Representative at 800-952-4438.

Your ability to perform certain transactions online may be limited by technical constraints or other limitations present in your equipment and access devices.

Fidelity Charitable is not delivering telecommunication, Internet, paging, or any other means of electronic access. You are responsible for maintaining relationships with third parties and paying applicable fees associated with such services.

You should always take steps to ensure the security of your information by keeping your access devices under your physical control and logging out as necessary.

Fidelity Charitable cannot assure the security or privacy of electronic transmission.

Our messaging service is available on most carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile®, U.S. Cellular®, MetroPCS, Boost, and Virgin. T-Mobile® is not liable for delayed or undeliverable messages. Standard message and data rates may apply. The third-party trademarks appearing herein are the property of their respective owners.

With two-factor authentication, an extra layer of security is added to your Giving Account to prevent someone from completing certain transactions, even if they have your password. This extra security measure requires you to verify your identity using a randomized six-digit code we’ll send you.

You can choose to receive your security code through one of two ways: by text or voice call to your mobile phone (or an alternate phone number).

The safety of donors’ personal information is a top priority at Fidelity Charitable, and with an increase in the risk of password and identity thefts through tactics such as phishing, two-factor authentication is critical as we continue to protect donor data. This next-level security layer reduces identity and fraud risks by making it harder for cyber criminals to get access to accounts and personal information.

We continuously look to improve the customer experience while also ensuring the security of donor data.

The two-factor authentication (2FA) is an additional layer of security used by Fidelity Charitable to verify a user’s online identity for critical transactions. You will be asked for a security code when setting up new bank instructions or modifying a user’s contact information.

No, it's a best practice we're implementing to enhance the security of your online activities.

You can receive a code as a text message on your mobile phone or with an automated phone call.

Don't worry, you can still receive your security code. Simply log in to your Giving Account® and request that the code be sent to an alternate number you have provided. If you don't have an alternate number, please contact a Fidelity Charitable Representative at 800-952-4438.

Ensuring your contact information is up-to-date is an important step to completing 2FA. You can edit your contact information at any time when you log in to your Giving Account and select the "Your Profile" link in the upper right-hand corner then select the "Edit" link below “Contact Information.” That is why it's important that you include more than one phone number if possible (home and mobile). If there is no valid information, you can contact a Fidelity Charitable Representative at 800-952-4438.

First, make sure you are using the code that is in the message itself and not the hyphenated six-digit incoming number. If this doesn't solve the problem, do the following:
1. Select "Didn't get the code?"
2. Complete the steps for requesting a new code. If you're receiving the code by phone, make sure to choose a compatible delivery method. For example, we can only send text messages to a mobile phone. For a landline phone, select an automated call.

If you received multiple codes, enter the most recent one.

We heard from many donors that they would like the option for a trusted device login. By clicking this box at your initial one-time password (OTP) login, you have the opportunity to set your trusted device. Note that we’ve enabled two-factor authentication (2FA) for all new donors, which is valuable for all logins, including sensitive logins related to certain financial transactions and contact information updates.

Yes, you may access your Giving Account from the device of your choice.

Clearing your cache or cookies on the trusted device will result in the reset of your trusted device feature. In addition, if your login is sensitive or appears unusual, you may be prompted to use two-factor authentication.

The free Fidelity Charitable® app makes your giving experience simple and streamlined.  With light and dark modes, you’ll have easy access to your Fidelity Charitable Giving Account.

The latest version offers an elevated design experience allowing you to recommend grants, monitor the status of grants and contributions, as well as see future one-time and recurring grant recommendations. You need to have a Giving Account® with Fidelity Charitable to use this app.

Yes, you can make contributions via the in-app browser.

Pool exchanges cannot be recommended on the app. Once you have recommended a grant, you can log in to your Giving Account at FidelityCharitable.org or call a Fidelity Charitable representative at 800-952-4438 to recommend a pool exchange to rebalance your current allocation.
